Dr. Logan Attends OAS & OH-PKAL Joint Conference
Dr. Logan attended the joint Ohio STEM conference, hosted by the Ohio Academy of Science and Ohio Project Kaleidoscope, at Miami University of Ohio. The conference theme covered preparing students for careers in STEM.

Tau Beta Pi Spring Conference in Kalamazoo, MI
Dr. Logan attended the 2025 Tau Beta Pi District 7 Conference in Kalamazoo, MI. Highlights included networking with chapters, and leading a session on officer transitions for collegiate chapters.

Museum Exhibit Event a Success
The Geotechnical Engineering (CEE 3311) course's museum exhibit project was a huge success! The event was featured in the Ada Icon. Read all about it! Check out the ONU Facebook post, too.

Dr. Logan Visits Iceland in Preparation for Upcoming Study Abroad Trip
In July 2024, Dr. Logan visited Iceland to scout hotels, museums, power plants, and tours to prepare a TBD future trip for CE 4321: Water-Energy-Society Infrastructure Nexus. This scouting trip was funded by an ONU Study Abroad Travel Grant, and the College of Engineering.

The University of Dayton, with Dr. Logan as District Lead, Hosted the Tau Beta Pi Spring Conference
In April 2024, with the help of the D7 District Team, UD and Dr. Logan planned and hosted the Tau Beta Pi Spring Conference. Tau Bates planned for the upcoming year, and learned more about their roles as engineers in society.

Madeline Awarded REU at University of Florida
For summer 2024, Madeline will participate in a Research Experience for Undergraduates at the University of Florida, funded by the National Science Foundation. The work will be part of the NHERI REU Program. Congratulations, Madeline!

LRG Attends Engineering Summit at the Columbus Zoo
Brady, Madeline, Evan, and Dr. Logan attended the Columbus Zoo's annual Engineering Summit. Complete with behind-the-scenes tours of the sea lion exhibit, and discussions on how to sustainably design and build animal exhibits, the event was a blast. We also got to meet Trout the penguin.

LRG Presents at ONU Research Colloquium
The LRG presented their updated work on LCA in engineering education at the research colloquium hosted by ONU. Their poster highlighted the need for LCA in sustainability education, as well as student perceptions pre- and post-LCA course module.

UIUC CEEAAB Dinner Event in Chicago, IL
Dr. Logan attended the 2025 CEE Alumni Association dinner event in Chicago, IL. As a CEEAA Board member, Dr. Logan served on the awards committee for the event. During her visit to Chicago, she also spoke to young alumni as part of a fireside chat.

Dr. Logan Attends CEEAAB Fall Meeting in Champaign, IL
Dr. Logan attended her first official board meeting as a newly-elected member of the Civil & Environmental Engineering Alumni Association Board. Business matters included committee meetings, an awards luncheon for distinguished faculty members, social hour with current faculty, a report from current CEE chair Dr. Ana Barros, and a CEE tailgate party.

Dr. Logan Attends WEPAN Conference in Baltimore, MD
Dr. Logan was awarded a WEPAN travel grant to attend the 2024 ADVANCE Equity in STEM Community Convening (EiSCC). The event highlights the roles, excellence, struggles, and more of women and minoritized individuals within the STEM community.

College of Engineering Celebrates Women's History Month
Dr. Logan was part of a Women's History Month celebration in the College of Engineering at ONU. Women play such a vital role in the creation and advancement of STEM yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

Evan, Blake, and Dr. Logan Complete Habitat for Humanity Collegiate Challenge
During winter break, Evan, Blake, and Dr. Logan, as part of the ONU H4H team, headed to Winston-Salem, NC to help build houses. The team tackled siding, roofing, and even got to put up new walls for a home.

Hydraulic Fracturing Work Published
Brady and Dr. Logan, along with Drs. Spiese and Rahrig, published their work on hydraulic fracturing and water accounting in SE Ohio. The paper can be found in the January 2022 issue of Science of the Total Environment.

ONU Students Highlighted for Research Efforts at Honors Day
Students in the College of Engineering, who completed three or more semesters of research for credit, were highlighted at the annual Honors Day event. All three current LRG students received certificates for their hard work.

KEEN National Conference in Austin, TX
Dr. Logan attended the KEEN national conference, along with several ONU engineering faculty. Many new ideas in the engineering education realm have been generated as a result!

Dr. Logan Awarded Engineering Unleashed Fellowship for Museum Exhibit Class Project
For her contribution to engineering education and the entrepreneurial mindset, Dr. Logan was awarded a 2024 KEEN fellowship for her ongoing work creating a meaningful, engaging project for her CE 3311 Geotechnical Engineering class. Students create a museum exhibit, and showcase their work to interdisciplinary judges from across campus. The fellowship provides funding for additional research and activities related to the project.

LRG Presents LCA work at ASCE's EWRI Congress
The team presented their work on LCA within Engineering Education at the 2024 Environmental and Water Resources Institute (EWRI) Congress in Milwaukee, WI in May. The team developed an LCA module for first-year engineering, and conducted pre- and post-module surveys on students' thoughts on sustainability.

Dr. Logan Awarded Tenure and Promotion
Dr. Logan was awarded tenure at ONU. Her promotion to Associate Professor, and official tenure, went into effect in August 2024.

LRG Presents LCA Work at FYEE
In July 2023, the team presented their work-in-progress on Life Cycle Assessment in Engineering Education at the annual First-Year Engineering Education conference. The accompanying conference paper details the background on LCA, and need for more sustainability education in universities.
